2025: A Foundational Year for Hero’s Encore
2025 marked the first full implementation year of Hero’s Encore as an independent Nebraska-based nonprofit operating under a structured nine-month Peer-to-Performer model.
After nine years within a national 10-week framework, we transitioned to a longer, staged format designed to support progressive skill development, creative expression, and performance readiness. The year required refinement of pacing, curriculum, and progression benchmarks across:
Stage 1: Instrument Instruction
Stage 2: Songwriting
Stage 3: Performance Readiness
Fourteen Heroes completed Stage 1.
Ten completed the full Peer-to-Performer journey.
Their experience helped clarify expectations between stages, strengthen rehearsal standards, and refine the structure that now defines the program. 2025 functioned as a foundational implementation year — not a finished model, but a tested and strengthened one.
Hearts & Harmony: Culmination and Continuation
Hearts & Harmony, presented by WoodmenLife and co-hosted by Omaha Performing Arts, marked the formal culmination of the 2025 cohort.
Original songs developed during Stage 2 were performed publicly, demonstrating the full progression through the three-stage structure. During the event, the 2026 cohort was also introduced — signaling continued growth.
The evening also revealed that for some graduates, the journey did not feel complete at graduation. In response, Hero’s Encore is developing an Encore Artist Development extension for graduates who wish to continue refining their craft and contributing within the broader community.
Entering 2026 with Clarity
With stage benchmarks defined, curriculum refined, and evaluation measures in place, Hero’s Encore enters 2026 focused on disciplined execution and measured growth.
The goal for 2026 is to serve 40 Heroes through the full nine-month journey under this strengthened structure.
2025 established the framework.
2026 builds upon it.
